I marched, too, but I didn't think for a second that he was going to give a sh!t that we were doing it.

I always felt that we did it for ourselves and to send a message to the world and to each other that yeah, that orange baboon is potus now (damn it), but that doesn't mean we're all just going to roll over and play dead for the next 4 years.

He didn't care. He wasn't ever going to care.

At the time, I remember wondering if he thought all of those huge crowds were there to celebrate his being president. I wouldn't put it past him. He's definitely egotistical enough to have told himself that.
