better yet, spring. Spring is the best time to move a hosta, and it should not be in the way during the winter.

This time is probably the worst time to move it. All of mine are budding and ready to bloom, and that is always a bad time to move them. If you can't wait, be sure that you water it well whenever it is not raining where you move it. It will be really stressed and unable to deal with any further trauma.
