homemade bone meal? [View all]

Has anyone made their own bonemeal? I've found some fairly easy ways to do it for chicken bones (basically boil bones with a little vinegar to leach out some of the calcium and grind it, or slow-roast bones till brittle and crush it.). But beef, lamb, and pork bones are a bit harder to handle. Has anyone tried making bone meal from those types of bones?

Some people bury it in their hot compost pile but it's not a good option in my yard because the neighborhood rodents are exceptionally intelligent.
