I learned about the Holocaust when I was five years old. I am not Jewish but most in my neighborhood were. For years my understanding was black and white - it was only the Nazis that perpetrated the genocide. As time goes on, I see, in most countries there were pockets of collusion that kept the horror going. Yes, there were heroic individuals, and underground efforts to save people but we are still learning about others who participated, even our own politicians in the past.
