9. This was ages ago; the Mormons haven't bothered me in years.

I read somewhere that they don't knock on your door if you are old or single because they are only interested in recruiting families. When I hid from the Mormons I was young and married, at that time a prime target. Husband and I considered our hiding from them on the floor to be kind of a joke and we were laughing (quietly) the whole time. They had been pestering us regularly and we were just tired of telling them to go away because obviously they weren't taking the hint. We never felt apologetic or unable to walk proudly in our home; we were just sick of them and didn't want to talk to them at all.
