When Kurt Russell was a child actor, he gave his older co-star Charles Bronson a remote-controlled airplane for his birthday. Bronson took the gift and left the room without saying anything, which left Russell worried he had upset him.
Later, Bronson called Russell to his dressing room and told him, “No one has ever given me a birthday gift before”. Bronson was the son of poor immigrants and had worked in mines as a child. He was touched by Russell's gesture and gave Russell a skateboard for his birthday. The two men remained lifelong friends.
