I was one of them. He was a Dem, Dems were the good guys. It was years later I learned about his policies such as ending Glass Steagal, 'reforming' Welfare, deregulating Wall St etc. But at that time even people were a bit uneasy about his policies, what choice did they have?

So over and over people voted for the 'lesser evil'.

That seems to be over now. People are realizing that to continue to do that will not only NOT change anything, it emboldens the Right and their political cousins, the Third Way to go even further.

So, we have to start all over it seems. If the party won't listen to the voters, the voters will do what they did in the midterms, start where they live. Vote for ballot issues, focus on their local politicians. That worked, eg, here in NYS fracking is now banned. To try to get that done on a national level, would be impossible.

So, people are focusing on where they DO have some power, locally and eventually they will build a foundation for the Dem Party that doesn't include the Third Way/DLC/ Republican Lite policies.
