It can also mean the feeling of deserving something without working for it.
It can also refer to a government program that provides a benefit to eligible participants, or the unjustified assumption of such a right.
It is the ambiguity that I have a problem with.
I assume my SS income is the money I and my fellow citizens put into a protected account for our retirement. I own it. I am not "entitled" to it by the graces of who ever happens to be in control.
