Aspirin can pose serious dangers, including an increased risk of gastrointestinal bleeding, stomach ulcers, and hemorrhagic stroke. The risk of these complications varies based on dosage, other medications, and individual health factors. Aspirin is especially dangerous for children and teenagers due to the risk of Reye's syndrome.

Aspirin can irritate the stomach lining and cause ulcers and bleeding in the stomach or intestines. This risk increases with higher doses, long-term use, and older age. The risk of internal bleeding is heightened when aspirin is combined with alcohol or other blood-thinning medications.

While aspirin is used to prevent clot-related strokes, its blood-thinning effect increases the risk of a hemorrhagic stroke, which is caused by bleeding in the brain.

Long-term or heavy aspirin use can affect kidney function and potentially lead to kidney failure.

Ringing in the ears (tinnitus) is another reported side effect.
