I've been boycotting all advertising supported television since January 2012.
Whatever people say about Walter Cronkite or Sixty Minutes I think television news and opinion in the U.S.A. has always been corrupt to some extent. It started to go truly rotten with Ronald Reagan.
Beyond the news, I subscribed to Paramount streaming long enough to watch two seasons of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds but I didn't find enough there to interest me, in either Strange New Worlds or Paramount in general to justify the cost. If I need a Star Trek fix there are still dozens of Star Trek novels on my bookshelf I haven't read yet.
My take on "traditional" television is rather harsh: Traditional television made Trump, Traditional television must die. I'm a pacifist so my only recourse, or nearly so, is to encourage people to abandon it.
I seem to be a happier person without television and have similar feelings about "social media." DU is my only social media.
Maybe boycotts will convince CBS to offer something more than token resistance to the fascists. But at this point, reduced to being little more than a brand name trading hands, the world might still be a better place if they simply withered away.
