years. I was kidding when I replied to your post. I remember hearing about "WEIRD THANGS" that happened when my mom, aunties and their friends would talk after they would put us to bed and "THINK" that all of us nosey kids were asleep, yeah, I wasn't,
I'm black, (well mostly), so there were things that we just didn't do, though my parents knew people like these perverts like them who did REALLY creepy things. My mother had a beautiful voice and sang alot of Broadway tunes. My father, Uncle and their friends would be in the back watching the fights, Muhammad Ali, George Foreman, Joe Frazier, Ken Norton, Leon "Weirdo" Spinks, etc so as far as I'm aware, they didn't know anything of that sort. Seemed like there were boxing matches every Saturday night but that's neither here no there. I was just having fun & meant no harm. Been a member her on DU since 2004 but had to make another account because I couldn't remember the my old password after surviving Stage 4B metastatic cancer, complicated by visceral gangrene & flunking Home Hospice I had NO IDEA I was in for 5 years.

I am a pianist, (started playing when I was 3 years old when the family found out that I can play whatever I hear- I realised that I'm a Synesthete about 8 years ago when I was cooking went to taste the seasoning and, not knowing that my friend was in the kitchen. Apparently, I was talking to myself andright after I tasted the food, I said, TO MYSELF, "it's too flat." She stayed quiet to watch what I would do next. I added a little vinegar, (to me, an acid, whether lemon, lime, vinegar, anything sour is "pointy" to me & if what I'm cooking should be more acidic, like Tangines, Marinara made from home grown tomatoes, etc. Once I added a little, I tasted again and nodded my head & said, (Okay, that's pointy enough). She told me that I was Synesthete & felt that that it would explain my musical ability, my cooking ability, etc. When I hear music, I "SEE" it as a pattern. I see odours in colors, (not always a good thing, trust me), I taste things in "shapes", if that makes sense and I believe that my synesthesia explains my ability to play what I hear, I've always able to change the key, the tempo, etc from as far back as my mom, grandparents could remember.

Well, I'll leave it here because I can talk folks to sleep. Nice to talk to you. Have a wonderful weekend.
