13. NY likes to elect celebrities? First I heard of that.

I don’t see any evidence of that at all. What Mayors are you referring to? Several NYC mayors became celebrities because of the office but were not celebrities in the normal sense.
Robert Wagner
John Lindsay
Abraham Beam
David Dinkins
Edward Koch
Rudy Guiliani
Michael Bloomberg
Bill Deblasio
Adams
(Pardon the massive spelling errors).
These men were all public servants (save Bloomberg financial based media empire billionaire)before they served.
Even Fiorello LaGuardia (the best mayor imho to serve the city) was a professional politician and a hard working people’s lawyer before he served.
