Mass email just received from the DNC about a "People's Cabinet" -- what do you think? [View all]

It ends with the obligatory "send us $3" pitch, but this is the bulk of the rest of it. What do you think? Good idea, or ultimately performative and pointless? Personally, I think it doesn't seem like a bad idea in principle. I guess it remains to be seen whether they can carry it off effectively.

EarlG,

Right now, it’s our responsibility as Democrats to challenge Trump’s lies, confront his reckless agenda, and communicate to voters all over the country that we can offer a better alternative.

With your help, that’s exactly what we’re doing — take a look:

Breaking: DNC Chair Ken Martin Launches “People's Cabinet” to Fiercely Counter Trump Administration Chaos and Lies

The DNC recently announced a new project: The People’s Cabinet. This project brings together qualified policy experts, national and local leaders, and voices from our communities — people who will cut through the lies and speak directly to Americans about the reality of what the Trump administration is doing.

The People’s Cabinet will include a wide array of national, state, and local experts on the economy, health care, working families and communities, public safety, and national security and foreign policy — including former Labor Secretary and co-founder of Inequality Media Civic Action Robert Reich, former Acting Labor Secretary Julie Su, former Wisconsin Lieutenant Governor Mandela Barnes, and more.

In order to reach as many people as possible and meet them where they are, the Cabinet will conduct briefings with media and coalition partners, speak directly with Americans at town halls, produce digital content to reach people across the platforms where they get their news, engage in rapid response to counter the lies and disinformation from the Trump Administration, and serve as thought leaders for the Democratic ecosystem on effective strategy and tactics in countering the worst of the Republican agenda.

We heard from thousands of people earlier this year that you want to see Democrats aggressively countering Trump, while reaching voters where they are, year-round. That’s exactly what we’re working to do.

Seems good as far as it goes, but "cut through the lies and speak directly" also seems like simply more talk. . . . nt Bernardo de La Paz Apr 15 #1
